Discovering a Nu Beginning

As Executive Director of Nu Beginnings, Odie Smith has traveled to most major U.S. cities performing job aptitude assessments and employment interviews, while conducting over 50 job fairs and career expos. Mr. Smith began this journey in 1989, after a layoff while at McDonnell Douglas. Before there was the internet, he had to quickly learn how to write a resume to apply for employment. He discovered how to enhance the resume and he soon began composing resumes for other laidoff coworkers. His passion for serving others has guided him to assist thousands of clients across the U.S. He has received many community service awards and honors, and  is regarded as a employment services specialist. In 2009, Odie and Daval Smith opened their first Nu Beginnings office in Florissant, MO. They have been happily married for 32 years and are the parents of two adult children and three granddaughters.
